Steve shares in his L'Officiel cover interview that acting is just a job, and he likes to spend his free time away from the spotlight with his wife, Nancy Carell
"She’s just a super-talented and smart person," Steve said of Nancy, his wife of 30 years. "And, you know, she’s a babe."
Steve Carell is opening up about his long and happy marriage with his wife of 30 years, Nancy Carell.
While speaking about his new HBO comedy Rooster in a cover story with L'Officiel, he got candid about what life looks like when he's not on set.
"I have hobbies. I play sports. I hang out with my kids," the actor, 63, told L'Officiel. "My wife and I are trying to travel more now that we’re empty nesters."
Steve and Nancy first met in Chicago in the early '90s as members of the Second City comedy troupe, and tied the knot in August 1995. They later welcomed two kids: Annie, 24, and Johnny, 21.
So what does he do with extra downtime now that his kids are grown? "I get very excited about something like buying a new leaf blower," Steve admitted. "I actually just went one step further and bought a leaf vacuum that straps over my back, and I love it."

When asked how he navigates his relationship with fame, Steve tied it back to his comparatively late start in Hollywood. "A big thing was trying to make sure that my kids had a fairly normal upbringing," said Steve. "My wife and I aren’t Hollywood-party types; I like to do the work, and I have friendships at work, but we don’t go out a lot. Most of our friends are the parents of our kids’ classmates."
Throughout the interview, he also gushed about his dynamic with Nancy. "We read scripts together, and after 30 years of marriage, we know each other pretty well," said Steve. "We really do finish each other’s sentences, but people who know us know that she’s way funnier than I am. She’s just a super-talented and smart person. And, you know, she’s a babe."

Playing an author in Rooster, Steve admitted that he did consider taking a stab at writing a book in the voice of his character, but ultimately decided he wasn't up for it yet.
"I’ve never done it, but maybe someday when I’m older, just sitting around, and my wife says, 'You have to do something. We’re just staring at each other now.' Maybe then."
